B1: Intermediate level
Duration: 3.5 months
B1 is the intermediate level in German language learning. It prepares the students for the international examinations. As it is academically more rigorous and culturally immersive, only students who have successfully completed A1 and A2 levels are eligible to progress to B1.
At this stage, instructors guide students through various tasks to deepen language competence and cultural awareness:
- Cultural programs that introduce traditions and contemporary practices of German-speaking regions
- Communication exercises with native speakers to enhance fluency and spontaneous interaction
- Essay writing that promotes structured thought and language precision
- Daily German correspondence, including emails and short formal texts, to develop practical communication skills
The B1 certificate is typically valid for one year. This limited validity encourages learners to advance further or utilize the credential promptly—whether for academic enrolment, job applications, or residency purposes.

About Us
Although there is a growing trend in international emigration from states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu, especially among youth seeking education and employment abroad, students and individuals from poor and marginalized communities remain largely excluded. Barriers such as lack of funding, awareness, and access to essential information prevent them from pursuing global education and career paths.
Recognizing this critical gap and the need for safe migration, language proficiency, and cultural integration, the Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum located at the sea coast of Kerala, south India established the Waves International Language Learning (WILL) Centre through Trivandrum Social Service Society (TSSS), which is the social action wing of the Archdiocese in order to equip the aspirants especially from disadvantaged backgrounds with the language skills and cultural integration primarily required to thrive in international academic and work environments promoting inclusive access to global opportunities, ensuring no one is left behind due to their socio-economic status.
